श्लोक 1

कथं वै दृष्टवान्ब्रह्मा सद्योजातं महेश्वरम् वामदेवं महात्मानं पुराणपुरुषोत्तमम्

kathaṃ vai dṛṣṭavānbrahmā sadyojātaṃ maheśvaram vāmadevaṃ mahātmānaṃ purāṇapuruṣottamam

हिन्दी अर्थ

सूतजी बोले--हे मुनियो! उस भयावह कृष्ण कल्पके बीत जानेपर ब्रह्माजी उन ब्रह्मस्वरूप देवदेवेश अघोरकी स्तुति करने लगे उस स्तुतिसे प्रसन्न होकर महादेवने अनुग्रह करके ब्रह्मासे कहा-हे महाभाग! ब्रह्महत्या आदि महापातकों, अन्य पातकों तथा अनेकविध पापोंको मैं अपने इसी अघोर रूपसे दूर करता हूँ; इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं

In that (kalpa) when Brahma was pursuing intense meditation a son with tuft was born unto him. He was called Svetalohita

श्लोक 2

अघोरं च तथेशानं यथावद्वक्तुमर्हसि एकोनत्रिंशकः कल्पो विज्ञेयः श्वेतलोहितः

aghoraṃ ca tatheśānaṃ yathāvadvaktumarhasi ekonatriṃśakaḥ kalpo vijñeyaḥ śvetalohitaḥ

हिन्दी अर्थ

हे सुब्रत! है पितामह! इसी प्रकार सभी उपपातकों, मानसिक पापों, सुतीक्ष्ण वाचिक पापों, कायिक पापों, मिश्रित पापों, प्रासंगिक पापों, जानबूझकर किये गये पापों, सहज रूपमें आगन्तुक पापों तथा पितृ-मातृदेहजन्य पापोंको दूर कर देता हूँ और है विभो! समस्त प्रकारके पातकजनित दुःखोंका नाश कर देता हूँ; इसमें लेशमात्र भौ संशय नहीं है॥ ४--६॥

English

On seeing that Purusa, the glorious lord Brahma with faces all round, thought of the noble-souled lord in the form of Brahman. Brahma retained Sadyojata in the heart and became engaged in meditation. After realising die greatest being through meditation Brahma, the lord of Dcvas, saluted him.

अध्याय ११

श्लोक 3

तस्मिंस्तत्परमं ध्यानं ध्यायतो ब्रह्मणस्तदा उत्पन्नस्तु शिखायुक्तः कुमारः श्वेतलोहितः

tasmiṃstatparamaṃ dhyānaṃ dhyāyato brahmaṇastadā utpannastu śikhāyuktaḥ kumāraḥ śvetalohitaḥ

हिन्दी अर्थ

घोरेभ्यः० ) जपकर ब्रह्महत्यारा भी मुक्त हो जाता है। वीरहा लक्षमात्रेण भ्रूणहा कोटिमभ्यसेत्

English

Brahma contemplated again over Sadyojata. There- upon from his sides were born Svetas (white ones) of great fame, viz. Sunanda, Nandana, Vivananda and Upanandana; these nobie-souled ones were thedisciples of Brahma by whom he was always surrounded.

अध्याय ११

श्लोक 4

तं दृष्ट्वा पुरुषं श्रीमान् ब्रह्मा वै विश्वतोमुखः हृदि कृत्वा महात्मानं ब्रह्मरूपिणमीश्वरम्

taṃ dṛṣṭvā puruṣaṃ śrīmān brahmā vai viśvatomukhaḥ hṛdi kṛtvā mahātmānaṃ brahmarūpiṇamīśvaram

हिन्दी अर्थ

गोघ्नश्चैव कृतघ्नश्च स्त्रीघ्नः पापयुतो नरः ब्रह्मघ्नश्च जपेदेवं मानसं वै पितामह। सम्पर्कात्पापिनां पापं तत्समं परिभाषितम्

English

In front of him the sage Sveta, glittering in his white colour, was born. Then there was born Hara of great splendour.

श्लोक 5

सद्योजातं ततो ब्रह्मा ध्यानयोगपरो ऽभवत् ध्यानयोगात्परं ज्ञात्वा ववन्दे देवमीश्वरम्

sadyojātaṃ tato brahmā dhyānayogaparo 'bhavat dhyānayogātparaṃ jñātvā vavande devamīśvaram

हिन्दी अर्थ

तथाप्ययुतमात्रेण पातकाद्वै प्रमुच्यते संसर्गात्पातकी लक्षं जपेद्वै मानसं धिया पातकादर्धमेव स्यादुपपातकिनां स्मृतम्॥

English

There all the sages resorted to the great lord Sadyojata with perfect devotion. They praised the eternal Brahman. Hence all those persons O brahmins, who resort to lord Vive: - vara after being engrossed in breath-control and mentally devoted to Brahman, become liberated from sins. They will have the splendour of brahman and be free from impulses. They will go beyond Visnu's abode and enter Rudra's world.

अध्याय ११

श्लोक 6

अघोरेशमाहात्म्य तथा अघोरमन्त्रके जपसे विविध पातकोंका विनाश फफफफफाफ फपीफीकीफीफीकीफीफीफाफफफफफफफफफफफ

श्लोक 7

सुनन्दो नन्दनश्चैव विश्वनन्दोपनन्दनौ शिष्यास्ते वै महात्मानो यैस्तद्ब्रह्म सदावृतम्

sunando nandanaścaiva viśvanandopanandanau śiṣyāste vai mahātmāno yaistadbrahma sadāvṛtam

हिन्दी अर्थ

हे वत्स! उससे आधा जप करनेसे वाचिक पाप तथा उससे भी आधे जपसे मानसिक पाप, चार गुना जप करनेसे बुद्धिपूर्वक अर्थात् जानबूझकर किये गये पाप तथा आठ गुना जप करनेसे क्रोधपूर्वक किये गये पाप दूर होते हैं ॥ ७/२॥

तस्याग्रे श्वेतवर्णाभः श्वेतो नाम महामुनिः विजज्ञे ऽथ महातेजास् तस्माज्जज्ञे हरस्त्वसौ

tasyāgre śvetavarṇābhaḥ śveto nāma mahāmuniḥ vijajñe 'tha mahātejās tasmājjajñe harastvasau

हिन्दी अर्थ

वीरोंकी हत्या करनेवालेको एक लाख जप तथा भ्रूण-हत्या करनेवालेको एक करोड़ जप करना चाहिए । माताका हत्यारा दस लाख जप करनेसे शुद्ध होता है; इसमें संशय नहीं है॥ ८ /२॥ गायकी हत्या करनेवाला, कृतघ्न तथा स्त्रीका हत्यारा-ऐसा पापी मनुष्य दस हजार बार अघोरमन्त्र जपकर पापमुक्त हो जाता है; इसमें लेशमात्र भी संदेह नहीं है॥ ९/२॥

तत्र ते मुनयः सर्वे सद्योजातं महेश्वरम् प्रपन्नाः परया भक्त्या गृणन्तो ब्रह्म शाश्वतम्

tatra te munayaḥ sarve sadyojātaṃ maheśvaram prapannāḥ parayā bhaktyā gṛṇanto brahma śāśvatam

हिन्दी अर्थ

हे प्रभो! जानकर अथवा बिना जाने सुरापान करनेवाला एक लाख जपसे तथा वारुणी (मद्य) पीनेवाला उसके आधे अर्थात् पचास हजार जपसे पापमुक्त हो जाता है; इसमें किसी प्रकारका संशय नहीं बिना स्नान किये भोजन करनेवाला, गायत्री-जप तथा अग्निहोत्र किये बिना और देवताओं एवं अतिथियों आदिको भोजन कराये बिना भोजन करनेवाला द्विज एक हजार जप करनेसे शुद्ध होता है॥ ११/२॥

श्लोक 10

तस्माद्विश्वेश्वरं देवं ये प्रपद्यन्ति वै द्विजाः प्राणायामपरा भूत्वा ब्रह्मतत्परमानसाः

tasmādviśveśvaraṃ devaṃ ye prapadyanti vai dvijāḥ prāṇāyāmaparā bhūtvā brahmatatparamānasāḥ

हिन्दी अर्थ

ब्राह्मगका धन हरण करनेवाला तथा स्वर्णको चोरी करनेवाला अधम व्यक्ति दस लाख अघोर मन्त्र जपकर पापसे मुक्त होता है, इसमें संदेह नहीं है। इसी प्रकार हे पितामह! गुरुपत्नीमें आसक्ति रखनेवाले, माताका वध करनेवाले तथा ब्रह्महत्यारे नराधमको भी पापमुक्तिहेतु दस लाख मानस जप करना चाहिए॥ १२-१३/२॥

ते सर्वे पापनिर्मुक्ता विमला ब्रह्मवर्चसः विष्णुलोकमतिक्रम्य रुद्रलोकं व्रजन्ति ते

te sarve pāpanirmuktā vimalā brahmavarcasaḥ viṣṇulokamatikramya rudralokaṃ vrajanti te

हिन्दी अर्थ

पापियोंके सम्पर्कमात्रसे लगनेवाला पाप उन पापियोंके पापके ही समान कहा गया है, फिर भी मात्र दस हजार जपसे ही सम्पर्कमें रहनेवाला प्राणी उस पापसे मुक्त हो जाता है॥ १४/२॥ संसर्गसे होनेवाले पाप-शमनके लिये पातकीको एक लाख मानस जप अथवा उसका चार गुना उपांशु जप अथवा आठ गुना वाचिक जप बुद्धिपूर्वक करना
