(Matsya Purāṇa)One of the 18 Mahapuranas (~14,000 verses). Narrated by Vishnu in his Matsya (fish) avatar to Manu during the cosmic flood. One of the oldest Puranas, covering cosmology, the flood myth, dharmic law, sacred architecture (Vastu-Shastra), and iconography. The Matsya-Manu mutual protection pact is among the most moving passages in all Puranic literature.
