Sama Veda
सामवेद
The Veda of melodies and chants — the world's oldest musical scripture (1,875 verses). Krishna in the Gita: 'Among the Vedas, I am the Sama Veda.' Purva Archika: Agni invoked through sacred sound; OM as Udgitha (the upward chant); the inner fire that must be fed daily. Uttara Archika: 'Sam gacchadhvam sam vadadhvam' — come together, speak together, let your minds be one (the Vedic vision of collective intelligence). Agnihotra: 'Sa id dive sa id dive' — day by day; the daily renewal of the inner fire. Chandogya Udgitha (the Upanishad rooted in Sama tradition): 'Sarvam khalvidam brahma' — all this is Brahman; kratumayaḥ puruṣaḥ — a person is made of intention; Madhu Vidya — all beings merge into Being as honey; Adityo brahma — the Sun sings the cosmic Sama upward. Foundation of Indian classical music (raga system, saptasvara).
