कृतश्रमौ महायुद्धे सततं वृद्धसेविनौ। सात्यकिर्दशभिर्वीरों डिम्भकं॑ वेदपारगम् आजपघ्चे डिम्भको वीरश्वापमादाय चापरम्। क्षुरप्रेणाथ रौद्रेण तैलधौतेन विक्रमी अतीव शुशुभे राजन् वसन्ते किंशुको यथा ततोन्यद् धनुरादाय डिम्भको यादवेश्वरम् धनुषी तौ परित्यज्य वीरो डिम्भकसात्यकी

श्लोक 2

प्राप्ता वयं हि तं कालम् अनया धर्मतृष्णया प्राप्ता वयं च धर्मं स्वं सुखम् अल्पेन कर्मणा

prāptā vayaṃ hi taṃ kālam anayā dharmatṛṣṇayā prāptā vayaṃ ca dharmaṃ svaṃ sukham alpena karmaṇā

हिन्दी अर्थ

तौ हि खड्गविदां श्रेष्ठी वीरो डिम्भकसात्यकी वैजशम्पायनजी कहते हैं-- जनमेजय ! तदनन्तर डिम्भक और सात्यकि अत्यन्त घोर युद्ध करने लगे। वे दोनों बलवान वीर क्षत्रियोंमें विख्यात थे॥ १॥ उन्होंने महायुद्धमें बड़ा परिश्रम किया था। वे दोनों सदा वृद्ध पुरुषोंका सेवन करनेवाले थे। वीर सात्यकिने वेदोंके पारक्गत विद्वान् डिम्भकके स्तन, मुख और छातीमें दस पैने बाणोंसे प्रहार किया। उस बलवान वीरके द्वारा घायल किये गये क्षत्रियशिरोमणि डिम्भकने जिसे युद्धमें अपने पराक्रमपर बड़ा गर्व था, सात्यकिको पाँच हजार नाराचोंद्वारा चोट पहुँचायी, परंतु वृष्णिवीर सात्यकिने उन नाराचोंको बीचमें ही गर्जना करके तथा बोलकर हुंकारमात्रसे ही खण्डित कर दिया॥ २--४॥ तब सात शीघ्रगामी बाणोंसे

श्लोक 3

प्रजासमुद्वेगकरं युगान्तं समुपस्थितम् तस्मात् समुद्वेगकरे युगान्ते प्रत्युपस्थिते ।प्रनष्टधर्मं धर्मज्ञ निमित्तैर् वक्तुम् अर्हसि

prajāsamudvegakaraṃ yugāntaṃ samupasthitam tasmāt samudvegakare yugānte pratyupasthite | pranaṣṭadharmaṃ dharmajña nimittair vaktum arhasi

हिन्दी अर्थ

घायल होकर कुपित हुए नृपश्रेष्ठ डिम्भकने पुनः एक लाख बाणोंसे सात्यकिको क्षत-विक्षत कर दिया अर्धचन्द्राकार बाणसे डिम्भकके उस धनुषको काट लेकर तेलसे धुले हुए भयंकर श्षुरप्रके द्वारा सात्यकिको गहरी चोट पहुँचायी ॥ ७॥ राजन्! उस बाणसे घायल हो रक्त-वमन करते हुए सात्यकि वसन्तमें खिले हुए पलाशके समान बड़ी शोभा पाने लगे॥ ८॥ तब उन्होंने पुन: डिम्भकके उस विशाल धनुषको काट डाला, जिसको उसने दुबारा हाथमें लिया था। तदनन्तर डिम्भकने पुनः दूसरा धनुष हाथमें लेकर समस्त क्षत्रियोंके देखते- देखते यादवेश्वर सात्यकिको पैने बाणोंसे घायल करना आरम्भ किया। सात्यकिने युद्धस्थलमें दुरात्मा डिम्भकके उस अत्यन्त भयंकर धनुषको तीखे पंखवाले बाणसे पुनः काट डाला। गजेद्ध। फिर नृपश्रेष्ठ डिम्भकने तुरंत दूसरा धनुष लेकर उसके द्वारा सात्यकिको पुनः बींधना आरम्भ किया।

पृष्ट एवं भविष्यस्य गतिं तत्त्वेन चिन्तयन् एवं भविष्ये तु गतिं योगेनैव विचिन्तयन् ।युगान्ते पूर्वरूपाणि भगवान् अब्रवीत् तदा

pṛṣṭa evaṃ bhaviṣyasya gatiṃ tattvena cintayan evaṃ bhaviṣye tu gatiṃ yogenaiva vicintayan | yugānte pūrvarūpāṇi bhagavān abravīt tadā

हिन्दी अर्थ

राजाधिराज जनमेजय ! इस प्रकार सात्यकिने सब क्षत्रियोंके देखते-देखते डिम्भकके एक सौ दस धनुष काटकर बड़े जोरसे गर्जगा की। तब डिम्भक और सात्यकि दोनों वीर अपने धनुषोंको त्यागकर अत्यन्त भयंकर खड़्ग हाथमें ले परस्पर युद्धके लिये उपस्थित हुए। बे दोनों वीर खड़्गयुद्धके ज्ञाताओंमें श्रेष्ठ थे॥ ९--१४॥ एते खड़गविदां श्रेष्ठा: कीर्तिता युधि सत्तमा:। एतेष्वेती नृपश्रेष्ठो घट्सु वै नृपसत्तम आकर विकरं भिन्न निर्मर्यादममानुषम्। संकोचितं कुलचितं सव्यजानु विजानु च

इति प्रकारान् द्वात्रिंशच्यक्रतु: खड्गयोधिनौ। पुष्करस्थी महाराज युद्धाय कृतनिश्चयौ। ततो देवा: सगन्धर्वा: सिद्धाश्न परमर्षय: अर्जुन: सात्यकिश्वैव वासुदेवो जगत्पतिः। त्रय एते महावीराः प्रथिता: सड़रे सदा इति ते देवगन्धर्वा: सिद्धा यक्षा महोरगा: । दिविस्थिता: सम॑ ब्रूयुर्युद्धदर्शनलालसा: युद्धस्थलके छ: श्रेष्ठठम वीर खड्गयुद्धके ज्ञाताओंमें उत्कृष्ट माने गये हैं। नृपश्रेष्ठ इन छहोंमें भी ये दोनों श्रेष्ठ नरेश सर्वोत्तम कहे गये हैं। वे ही दोनों युद्धकी लालसा लेकर

अक्षत्रियाश् च राजानो विप्राः शूद्रोपजीविनः शूद्राश् च ब्राह्मणाचारा भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये

akṣatriyāś ca rājāno viprāḥ śūdropajīvinaḥ śūdrāś ca brāhmaṇācārā bhaviṣyanti yugakṣaye

हिन्दी अर्थ

प्रविद्ध, बाहुनि:सृत, आकर, विकर, भिन्न, निर्मर्याद, अमानुष, संकोचित, कुलचित, सव्यजानु, विजानु, आहिक, चित्रक, यौधिक और प्रथित--ये खड्गयुद्धके बत्तीस पैंतरे हैं। खड़्गयुद्धमें लगे हुए उन दोनों वीरोंने ये सभी पैंतरे वहाँ प्रकट किये। वे बारम्बार प्रहार करते हुए भी थकते नहीं थे। महाराज! पुष्करमें रहकर उन दोनों वीरोंने युद्धके लिये दृढ़ निश्चय कर लिया था। जनमेजय ! तदनन्तर करनेवाले उन दोनों वीरोंकी भूरि-भूरि प्रशंसा करने लगे-- ' अहो बाहुबलसे सुशोभित होनेवाले इन दोनों वीरोंका धैर्य और पराक्रम अद्भुत है। ये ही दोनों युद्धमें समर्थ हैं तथा खड्गविद्या और धरनुर्वेदके पारज्गभत विद्वान्

शूद्रा धर्मं चरिष्यन्ति युगान्ते जनमेजय ।काण्डपृष्ठाः श्रोत्रियाश् च हवींषि भरतर्षभ एकपङ्क्त्याम् अशिष्यन्ति युगान्ते जनमेजय

हिन्दी अर्थ

हैं। इनमेंसे एक तो भगवान् शट्डूरका शिष्य है और दूसरा बुद्धिमान् द्रोणाचार्यका ॥ १५--२४॥ अर्जुन, सात्यकि और जगदीश्वर भगवान् वासुदेव --ये तीन सदा ही युद्धस्थलमें “महावीर ' के नामसे विख्यात हैं॥ २५ ॥ 'डिम्भक, कुमार कार्तिकिय और भगवान् शिव-ये तीन मुख्य “महारथी' हैं। ये सभी बल और वीर्यमें विख्यात हैं'॥ २६॥ इस प्रकार वे देवता, गन्धर्व, सिद्ध, यक्ष और बड़े-बड़े नाग युद्ध देखनेकी इच्छासे खड़े होकर एक साथ उपर्युक्त इति श्रीमहाभारते खिलभागे हरिवंशे भविष्यपर्वणि हंसडिम्भकोपाख्याने सात्यकिडिम्भकयुद्धे पञ्जविंशत्यधिकशततमोध्याय: इस ब्रकार श्रीमहाभारतके खिलभाग हरिव॑शके अन्तर्गत भविष्यपर्वमें हंसडिस्धकोपाख्यानके प्रसड्में सात्यकि और डिम्थकका युद्धविषयक एक सौ पच्चीसवाँ अध्याय पूरा हुआ ढ5क्‍:::--- षड्विंशत्यधिकशततमो5ध्याय: व लललबहकरइइकफसप-ी-ाना

धनानि श्लाघनीयानि सतां वृत्तम् अपूजितम् नार्यश् चापि करिष्यन्ति कृषिम् एव कलौ युगे ।अकुत्सना च पतिते भविष्यति युगक्षये

भक्षयन्नपरान् वृष्णीन् यादवान् राक्षसे श्वर: । चिक्षेप सहसा कांश्रिच्द्विडिम्बः पुरुषादक: वैज्ञम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय ! वसुदेव और उग्रसेन बूढ़े होनेपर भी युद्धमें परम सुख माननेवाले थे। उनके सारे अड़ जरासे जीर्ण हो गये थे, शरीरमें झुर्रियाँ पड़ गयी थीं और सिरके बाल सफेद हो गये थे॥ १॥ वे ज्ञान-विज्ञानसे सम्पन्न तथा राजमार्ग (क्षत्रियधर्म-- युद्ध)-में चतुर थे। ये दोनों उस महासमरमें दुरात्मा राक्षस हिडिम्बके साथ युद्ध करने लगे॥२॥ उन दोनोंने अनेक सहसत्र बाणोंद्वारा रणभूमिमें नरभक्षी राक्षसराज दुरात्मा हिडिम्बको पीडित कर दिया

अशान्तास् तापसा नित्यं भविष्यन्ति कलौ युगे ।प्रनष्टचेतना मर्त्या मुक्तकेशा विचूलिनः उनषोडशवर्षाश् च प्रजास्यन्ति नरास् तदा

हिन्दी अर्थ

राक्षसराज हिडिम्ब सब ओरसे मनुष्योंको खाता हुआ अत्यन्त हृष्ट-पुष्ठट हो गया था। उसकी भुजाएँ बड़ी- बड़ी और ठोड़ी विशाल थी। वह बड़ा दुष्टात्मा था। उसका पेट लम्बा और नेत्र विकराल थे। सिरके बाल पिंगल वर्णके दिखायी देते थे। उसकी आँखें विकृत थीं। नासिका बाजकी चोंचके समान जान पड़ती थी। वह महाभयंकर और विशाल भुजाओंसे युक्त था। उसके रोम ऊपरको उठे हुए थे॥ ४-५ ॥ शरीर पर्वताकार दिखायी देता था। दाढ़ें बड़ी-बड़ी थीं और मुँह गीदड़के समान प्रतीत होता था। लम्बे पेट और बड़े-बड़े दाँतोंवाला वह राक्षस सम्पूर्ण जगत्को अपना ग्रास बना लेनेके लिये तत्पर जान पड़ता था॥६॥ उसके कंधे ऊँचे, छाती चौड़ी और गर्दन लम्बी थी। वह देखनेमें हाथी-जैसा जान पड़ता था। वह पिटारी भर मांस खाता और संचित करके रखे हुए घड़ों रक्त पी जाता था नृपश्रेष्ठ वह हाथियोंसे हाथियोंको, घोड़ोंसे घोड़ोंको, रथोंसे रथोंकों और सवारोंसे सवारोंको मारकर कुचल देता था॥८॥ वह मनुष्योंको अपने सामने देखकर उन्हें नासिकाका ग्रास बना लेता था--नसकी तरह

अट्टशूला जनपदाः शिवशूलाश् चतुष्पथाः प्रमदाः केशशूलाश् च भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये

aṭṭaśūlā janapadāḥ śivaśūlāś catuṣpathāḥ pramadāḥ keśaśūlāś ca bhaviṣyanti yugakṣaye

हिन्दी अर्थ

शासमार्गसे भीतर खींच लेता था। महाराज! नरभक्षी हिडिम्बने सब ओरसे आक्रमण करके कुछ वृष्णिपालक योद्धाओंको मारकर सहसा अपना आहार बना लिया। उस विकराल खूपधारी राक्षसने जिन्हें सामने देखा, उन्हींका वध कर डाला॥ ९-१० ॥ पुरुषभक्षी राक्षसराज हिडिम्बने कितने ही वृष्णियों और यादवोंको खाते हुए उनमेंसे कुछकों उठाकर सहसा दूर फेंक दिया अन्तकाले यथा क्रुद्धों रुद्रः प्राणभृतो नृप। क्षणेनैकेन सर्वास्तान् भक्षयामास राक्षस: केचिद् भीता दिशः प्रापुर्वृष्णयो वीर्यशालिन: । केचित तु भक्षितास्तेन रक्षसा वृष्णिपुड़वा:

अट्टम् अन्नम् इति प्रोक्तं शूलो विक्रय उच्यते ।चतुष्पथा ब्राह्मण इति शिवो वेद उदाहृतः ।केशो भग इति ख्यातो राजन् नैवात्र संशयः ।सर्वे ब्रह्म वदिष्यन्ति सर्वे वाजसनेयिनः शूद्रा भोवादिनश् चैव भविष्यन्ति युगक्षये
