अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 1

यत् ख्यातं कृत्तिकातीर्थं कार्त्तिकेयाद् अनन्तरम् तस्य श्रवणमात्रेण सोमपानफलं लभेत्

yat khyātaṃ kṛttikātīrthaṃ kārttikeyād anantaram tasya śravaṇamātreṇa somapānaphalaṃ labhet

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

O brahmins, on being commended thus by the lord of Devas, those clouds let down a terrible gust of wind and downpour for the annihilation of cows. Then, O brahmins, Ear.h, sky and quarters became one as it were, due to the great showers that filled them all.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 2

पुरा तारकनाशाय भवरेतो ऽपिबत् कविः रेतोगर्भं कविं दृष्ट्वा ऋषिपत्न्यो ऽस्पृहन् मुने

purā tārakanāśāya bhavareto 'pibat kaviḥ retogarbhaṃ kaviṃ dṛṣṭvā ṛṣipatnyo 'spṛhan mune

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

The cows began to tremble as the winds blew and the showers fell. They gave, up their lives and fell down with their heads and faces directed sideways.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 3

सप्तर्षीणाम् ऋतुस्नातां वर्जयित्वा त्व् अरुन्धतीम् तासु गर्भः समभवत् षट्सु स्त्रीषु तदाग्नितः

saptarṣīṇām ṛtusnātāṃ varjayitvā tv arundhatīm tāsu garbhaḥ samabhavat ṣaṭsu strīṣu tadāgnitaḥ

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

O excellent brahmins, other cows stood over their calves covering them with their laps. Still other cows were deprived of their calves by the heavy downpour of water. The distressed calves exhibited their wretched faces. The chill wind made their necks shiver. They seemed to tell Krsna cf O save us, O save us" by uttering few feeble words.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 4

तप्यमानास् तु शोभिष्ठा ऋतुस्नातास् तु ता मुने किं कुर्मः क्व नु गच्छामः किं कृत्वा सुकृतं भवेत्

tapyamānās tu śobhiṣṭhā ṛtusnātās tu tā mune kiṃ kurmaḥ kva nu gacchāmaḥ kiṃ kṛtvā sukṛtaṃ bhavet

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

On seeing the entire cowherds' colony bewildered with the cows, cowherds and cowherdesses in utter confusion, Hari thought of the means of saving them. He said.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 5

इत्य् उक्त्वा ता मिथो गङ्गां व्यग्रा गत्वा व्यपीडयन् ताभ्यस् ते निःसृता गर्भाः फेनरूपास् तदाम्भसि

ity uktvā tā mitho gaṅgāṃ vyagrā gatvā vyapīḍayan tābhyas te niḥsṛtā garbhāḥ phenarūpās tadāmbhasi

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

After thinking thus, Kr?na uprooted the Govardhana mountain and playfully held it aloft with a single hand. On being advised thus by him the cowherds and the cowherdesscs who had been afflicted by the heavy downpour, entered the sheltered spot along with their cattle wealth. They kept their utensils and belongings loaded in carts.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 6

अम्भसा त्व् एकतां प्राप्ता वायुना सर्व एव हि एकरूपस् तदा ताभ्यः षण्मुखः समजायत

ambhasā tv ekatāṃ prāptā vāyunā sarva eva hi ekarūpas tadā tābhyaḥ ṣaṇmukhaḥ samajāyata

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

Krsna then released the great mountain Govardhana and replaced it in its spot, closely watched by the residents of Vraja with wonderment evident in their faces.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 7

स्रावयित्वा तु तान् गर्भान् ऋषिपत्न्यो गृहान् ययुः तासां विकृतरूपाणि दृष्ट्वा ते ऋषयो ऽब्रुवन्

srāvayitvā tu tān garbhān ṛṣipatnyo gṛhān yayuḥ tāsāṃ vikṛtarūpāṇi dṛṣṭvā te ṛṣayo 'bruvan

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

The lord of Devas, the conqueror of enemies rode on O Kfsna, O Krsna of mighty great arms, listen, why I have come near you. This should not be misunderstood (and thought otherwise) by you.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 8

गम्यतां गम्यतां शीघ्रं स्वैरी वृत्तिर् न युज्यते स्त्रीणाम् इति ततो वत्स निरस्ताः पतिभिस् तु ताः

gamyatāṃ gamyatāṃ śīghraṃ svairī vṛttir na yujyate strīṇām iti tato vatsa nirastāḥ patibhis tu tāḥ

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

You are indeed the great lord, the support of every¬ thing. You have incarnated on the surface of the Earth in order to remove the burden of the Earth.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 9

ततो दुःखं समाविष्टास् त्यक्ताः स्वपतिभिश् च षट् ता दृष्ट्वा नारदः प्राह कार्त्तिकेयो हरोद्भवः

tato duḥkhaṃ samāviṣṭās tyaktāḥ svapatibhiś ca ṣaṭ tā dṛṣṭvā nāradaḥ prāha kārttikeyo harodbhavaḥ

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

The cows were saved by you by uprooting the great mountain. O heroic one, I am delighted by this extremely wonderful feat of yours. Q Krsna, I think, the purpose of Devas has been served today. This excellent mountain has been held aloft with a single hand by you.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 10

गाङ्गेयो ऽग्निभवश् चेति विख्यातस् तारकान्तकः तं यान्तु न चिराद् एव प्रीतो भोगं प्रदास्यति

gāṅgeyo 'gnibhavaś ceti vikhyātas tārakāntakaḥ taṃ yāntu na cirād eva prīto bhogaṃ pradāsyati

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

Moreover, O Krsna, I have come near you, after being prompted by the cows saved by you. It is very much for your sake also, you are the cause of causes.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 11

देवर्षेर् वचनाद् एव समभ्येत्य च षण्मुखम् कृत्तिकाः स्वयम् एवैतद् यथावृत्तं न्यवेदयत्

devarṣer vacanād eva samabhyetya ca ṣaṇmukham kṛttikāḥ svayam evaitad yathāvṛttaṃ nyavedayat

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

Urged by the words of cows, I shall crown you as Upendra (younger brother of Indra). You shall become Govinda, the lord of cows. Then he brought the bell from his vehicle, Airavata. Filling it with sacred waters he performed the rite of coro¬ nation.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 12

ताभ्यो वाक्यं कृत्तिकाभ्यः कार्त्तिकेयो ऽनुमन्य च गौतमीं यान्तु सर्वाश् च स्नात्वापूज्य महेश्वरम्

tābhyo vākyaṃ kṛttikābhyaḥ kārttikeyo 'numanya ca gautamīṃ yāntu sarvāś ca snātvāpūjya maheśvaram

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

After crowning Sri Krsna at the instance of cows, the husband of SacI, Devendra spoke to Krsna again humbly and lovingly.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 13

एष्यामि चाहं तत्रैव यास्यामि सुरमन्दिरम् तथेत्य् उक्त्वा कृत्तिकाश् च स्नात्वा गङ्गां च गौतमीम्

eṣyāmi cāhaṃ tatraiva yāsyāmi suramandiram tathety uktvā kṛttikāś ca snātvā gaṅgāṃ ca gautamīm

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

I know Partha born into the Bharata family from a part of yours. As long as I continue to live on the surface of the Earth, I shall protect him. O Indra, lordofDevas, O suppressor of foes, as long as I stay on the Earth, no one will conquer Arjuna, in battle.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 14

देवेश्वरं च संपूज्य कार्त्तिकेयानुशासनात् देवेश्वरप्रसादेन प्रययुः सुरमन्दिरम्

deveśvaraṃ ca saṃpūjya kārttikeyānuśāsanāt deveśvaraprasādena prayayuḥ suramandiram

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

• Go, it does not behove you to be sad and anxious for the sake of your son. No enemy of Arjuna, howsoever great, will be too powerful in my presence.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 15

ततः प्रभृति तत् तीर्थं कृत्तिकातीर्थम् उच्यते कार्त्तिक्यां कृत्तिकायोगे तत्र यः स्नानम् आचरेत्

tataḥ prabhṛti tat tīrthaṃ kṛttikātīrtham ucyate kārttikyāṃ kṛttikāyoge tatra yaḥ snānam ācaret

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

For the sake of Arjuna I shall protect Yudhisthira and others also. When the Bharata battle is concluded I shall hand over toKunti all these persons led by Yudhisthira, (safe and) unwounded. On being assured thus the king of Devas embraced Kfsna and mounted on his elephant Airavata went back to heaven once again.

अध्याय ८२

श्लोक 16

सर्वक्रतुफलं प्राप्य राजा भवति धार्मिकः तत्तीर्थस्मरणं वापि यः करोति शृणोति च सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तो दीर्घम् आयुर् अवाप्नुयात्

sarvakratuphalaṃ prāpya rājā bhavati dhārmikaḥ tattīrthasmaraṇaṃ vāpi yaḥ karoti śṛṇoti ca sarvapāpavinirmukto dīrgham āyur avāpnuyāt

हिन्दी अर्थ

गौतम बोले भोगकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले जीवोंको मनोवाञ्छित भोग प्रदान करनेके लिये

English

Accompanied by* cowherds and cows Krsna returned to the Vraja along the path sanctified by the loving glances of cowherd lasses.
