Reading aid for the sourceWord by word
A subtle three-fold structure: knowledge, ignorance, and that which transcends both. Most spiritual paths advise: choose knowledge, reject ignorance. The Shvetashvatara goes deeper: the Supreme is BEYOND both knowledge and ignorance — it is the source of both, the witness of both. This anticipates the non-dual teaching that even "enlightenment" and "ignorance" are appearances within a more fundamental awareness.
In the imperishable, infinite, supreme Brahman, two are hidden — knowledge (vidya) and ignorance (avidya). Ignorance is the perishable; knowledge is the immortal. The one who is master of both knowledge and ignorance is yet another — the Supreme.

Simple explanation
Editorial explanation, not scripture
Modern reflection
Editorial reflection, not scripture

A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
