The decisive distinction. Aparā vidyā is all conventional knowing — science, language, ritual, even the Vedas themselves. Parā vidyā is direct knowing of the Self. The first deals with objects; the second with the subject.
To him he said: "Two kinds of knowledge are to be known — so say those who know Brahman: the higher (parā) and the lower (aparā)."

Pluralistic Tradition Neutrality (सम्प्रदाय-तटस्थता):

Simple explanation
Editorial explanation, not scripture
Modern reflection
Editorial reflection, not scripture

आधुनिक Epistemology 'knowing-that', 'knowing-how', और 'knowing what it is like' में भेद करती है।
A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
